Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, held the Emirates NBD Group Innovation Olympics today in honour of the 2015 UAE Innovation Week (22 - 28 November) launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The event, part of Emirates NBD's long-term commitment to cultivate a culture of innovation within the organisation, was officially signed up with the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation as one of the main support activities of the UAE Innovation Week. The day-long event showcased ingenious options in banking and financial innovation as well as new principles and possibilities within the sector, and was attended by members of the board of directors and executive management in addition to senior bank officials and personnel members.

As part of the Emirates NBD Group Innovation Olympics, fifteen finalists of the bank's internal development challenge provided their working prototypes based on the four main styles: 'Enhancing client experience', 'Powering business objectives', 'Business optimisation' and 'Improving staff engagement'. This year, the occasion likewise consisted of an expo-style exhibition showcasing prototypes of all staff entries in addition to UAE-based universities (Masdar Institute, University of Sharjah and HULT), vendors and FinTech start-up as part of the bank's goal to create and support a broader partner environment of development in the UAE.

The Emirates NBD Group Innovation Olympics is an annual event that leverages cumulative intelligence and team effort to crowdsource ingenious concepts that translate into concrete business development. We were impressed with the ideas provided this year that show the enormous imaginative capacity within Emirates NBD.". The UAE Innovation Week is an event of development in the UAE, in line with the instruction of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to mark 2015 as the 'Year of Innovation'. The week, which works as a conclusive platform and location for innovation and pioneers in the area, also constructs on the National Innovation Strategy introduced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai as a primary tool to accomplish UAE Vision 2021.
