Emirates Health Services Hosts Third Edition of the Mental Health Conference

Emirates Health Services (EHS), in partnership with Maudsley Health, has launched the third edition of the EHS International Mental Health Conference. This year’s event, themed “Empathy-Driven Innovation: Shaping the Future of Mental Health,” will be held at the University of Sharjah over two days, coinciding with the kickoff of Mental Health Month in the UAE.

The conference will explore the integration of empathy and technological advancements to drive innovation in mental health services. Distinguished doctors, psychologists, and global mental health experts will share their expertise, fostering collaboration and learning among attendees.

H.E. Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Clinical Services Sector at EHS, emphasized the UAE’s leadership in advancing mental health. He highlighted the nation's alignment with key strategies, including the National Quality of Life Strategy 2031, the ‘We the UAE 2031’ Vision, and the UAE Centennial 2071.

Dr. Noor Al Mheiri, Director of the Mental Health Department at EHS, underscored the importance of modern technologies in improving mental health services, stating, “Our goal is to proactively address psychological challenges by integrating innovations essential for enhancing community well-being.” Dr. Ammar Albanna, Director of Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, emphasized that the conference supports national efforts to reshape mental health services and elevate the UAE's role as a global leader in mental health innovation.

The conference agenda includes panel discussions and workshops covering key issues such as “Stages of Psychotic Disorders,” “Mental Health in Infants and Women Before and After Childbirth,” and “Modern Approaches to Treating Addiction in Youth.” Additionally, a seminar on “Parapsychology” and a debate on the potential role of Artificial Intelligence in replacing psychologists will be featured.
