Dubai Municipality Secures Seven New International Certifications

Dubai Municipality has achieved a significant milestone by securing seven new Certificates of Conformity (CoC) with international standards (ISO) and British standards in 2023. This accomplishment underscores the Municipality's commitment to innovation, excellence, agility, and institutional resilience.

The certifications span several crucial areas, including environmental management, energy management, institutional governance, IT governance, internal auditing, engineering contract management, and innovation. Notably, two of these certifications, ‘10845-1’ for engineering contract management and ‘ISO 19011’ for internal auditing, are firsts for the Middle East region.

H.E. Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, emphasized that these certifications reflect the Municipality’s robust vision and objectives in promoting compliance and governance to enhance Dubai’s appeal, sustainability, leadership, and quality of life. Al Hajri noted that these achievements embody the wise leadership’s vision of pioneering government work and enhancing competitiveness.

“The Municipality embraces an institutional approach based on a culture of leadership, innovation, governance, sustainability, and optimal investment in resources,” said Al Hajri. “This approach has substantially contributed to numerous international achievements, reflecting our commitment to excellence and global competitiveness.”

New Specifications

The ‘10845-1’ specification was awarded to Dubai Municipality for its use of best practices in the management of construction engineering contracts. The ‘ISO 19011’ certification was granted for establishing a comprehensive internal audit system aligned with international best practices.

Additionally, the Municipality achieved:

  • ISO 37000: For promoting effective governance and developing a governance framework.
  • ISO 14001: For integrating environmental management principles into its operations.
  • ISO 50001: For creating an energy management framework that maximizes energy use and promotes sustainability.
  • ISO 56002: For successfully implementing an innovation management system.
  • ISO 38500: For IT governance and digital transformation, recognizing its successful governance practices in digital transformation.

Renewals and Total Certifications

In addition to the new certifications, Dubai Municipality successfully renewed 27 international certifications across various domains in 2023, bringing the total number of international certifications to 34. These certifications, awarded by globally accredited auditing firms, affirm the Municipality's adherence to international best practices in corporate governance and management.

H.E. Dawoud Al Hajri concluded, "Owing to our remarkable human resources and specialized task forces, Dubai Municipality continues to offer exceptional services and implement strategies that meet global standards."
