Dubai Customs Presents its Vision in Customs Work Development at 'Global Customs and Trade Facilitation' Summit

Held annually in Dubai, the 2014 edition of Global Trade Development Week EMEA will be held from 27th to 29th October. Hosted by the UAE Ministry of Economy, this major trade forum will host over 600 trade leaders from over 90 nations and 120 speakers. As part of the activities held for the Global Trade Development Week, the 'Global Customs and Trade Facilitation' summit will take place.

This summit will be held in partnership with Dubai Customs; the worlds leading Customs department in developing Customs work, with the objective of facilitating global trade and investment. H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, shall deliver a speech at the summit; addressing the Customs role in boosting economic competitiveness and international trade development. Musabih will also showcase DCs experience in Customs systems development and the utilization of the latest IT applications to facilitate legitimate trade.

The summit will bring together a host of prominent world organizations leaders, representing the EU Commission, WTO, Interpol, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC). The list of speakers comprises of representatives form the worlds largest corporations, such as IBM, Huawei, Nokia and Nestle, and shall be attended by dignitary delegations from industrial and emerging markets and economies.

The panel sessions, held as part of the summit, will shed light on the perspective of private and public sectors towards the liberation of global trade, and its role in eliminating trading barriers, increasing trade and investment transparency. It shall also investigate in the role of technology in supporting trade facilitation and streamlining goods flow between borders, besides addressing the need for risk management programs limiting risk factors within the international supply chains.

H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih stated, The 'Global Customs and Trade Facilitation' summit is an international platform bringing together customs and trade facilitation experts from around the world. Thus, Dubai Customs is keen on sharing its vision on the need for customs work development towards the facilitation of trade, without jeopardizing the security duties of customs authorities. We will share our experience pertaining the provision of the best customs facilitations to traders and investors. Our leading experience in this area is the outcome of training our human capital and investing in the development and utilization of the latest IT applications. This ensures expediting and improving customs clearance transactions and promotes Dubai as the destination of choice for commercial transactions.

He added, We uphold the progression of customs work as a catalyst for promoting global trade environment, being one of our highest strategic priorities; which we seek to achieve via active participation in the WCO activities and in boosting collaboration and coordination with customs authorities around the globe.
