Dubai Civil Aviation Authority Showcases Growth in Helicopter Landing Infrastructure at Dubai HeliShow 2024

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) is actively participating in the Dubai HeliShow 2024, the Middle East's premier event focused on helicopter and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology and operations. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the event takes place from October 22 to 24 at Skydive Dubai.

The DCAA released data showing a 25% growth in helicopter landing pads in Dubai by the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year. This reflects a significant expansion in aviation infrastructure to meet the city's rising demand for aviation services.

As a key supporter of the event, the DCAA is highlighting its services related to landing field approvals for both recreational and commercial aircraft, including the approval of heliports for emergency use. This initiative is part of the authority’s mission to improve safety, operational efficiency, and bolster investor confidence in Dubai's aviation sector.

H.E. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director General of DCAA, emphasized the authority’s role in promoting advanced aviation solutions. “Our presence at the Dubai HeliShow 2024 underscores our commitment to offering top-tier services, especially in landing field approvals. We continue to enhance Dubai’s standing as a global aviation leader by adhering to the highest safety and operational standards.”

Lengawi also highlighted the growing importance of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, stating that urban mobility solutions are becoming more crucial as the aviation industry evolves. “The future of eVTOL aircraft is already a reality in sectors like medical services, oil and gas, and infrastructure. We believe eVTOL will play a key role in Dubai’s urban mobility, aligning with the government's focus on innovation and sustainability.”

The DCAA’s involvement in the Dubai HeliShow is part of Dubai's long-term strategy to position the emirate as a global aviation hub. The authority aims to balance technological advancement with integrated solutions that meet the highest safety standards, contributing to Dubai’s vision of becoming a leading smart city.
