Digital Dubai Launches Initiative to Enhance Data Quality and Align with International Standards

Digital Dubai has announced a new initiative aimed at elevating data standards in quality, accessibility, and governance. This move aligns with the growing importance of digital data and artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing government operations.

The initiative focuses on creating a leading platform for government entities to exchange experiences and learn best practices for enhancing the quality of data provided on the Dubai Pulse platform. This platform supports informed decision-making at senior leadership levels and across the broader government ecosystem in Dubai.

A series of workshops on data and AI will be organized as part of the initiative, highlighting Digital Dubai’s digital maturity policy. This policy encompasses four key pillars: digital experiences, data management, cybersecurity, and information technology governance.

In its first phase, the initiative includes participation from 11 government entities, such as the Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Land Department, Dubai Customs, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Courts, and Dubai Police. More entities will join in subsequent phases.

H.E. Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive of Dubai Data & Statistics Establishment, emphasized the initiative's importance, stating, "With the tremendous developments in the digital space, the value of data is growing rapidly, becoming our most crucial asset. Enhancing data quality and management is imperative for decision-making and developing future solutions, applications, and projects. Prioritizing data quality and leveraging artificial intelligence will broaden horizons and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global digital city."

Sara Al Zarooni, Director of Data & Statistics Planning & Governance at Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, added, "This initiative builds on our ongoing collaboration with our partners across Dubai Government. Our focus is on achieving optimal utilization, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness, and promoting government integration. We aim to capitalize on opportunities and develop plans to tackle challenges effectively through continuous communication, workshops, and exchange of ideas."

The initiative will utilize a practical methodology to provide tangible results that enhance overall data performance. This methodology includes defining data quality, developing mechanisms for measuring quality, proposing improvement methods, and implementing effective management and display mechanisms aligned with the shared goals of all stakeholders. Additionally, the initiative will showcase best practices adopted by participating entities and explore ways to leverage these practices to achieve these goals.
