Digital Cooperation Organization Unveils Digital Economy Navigator to Address Global Digital Economy Gaps

The Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) has officially launched the Digital Economy Navigator (DEN), a groundbreaking framework designed to help nations bridge the gap in digital economy maturity and foster global cooperation. The initiative was revealed at the SDG Digital 2024 event during the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The DEN provides a comprehensive platform for 50 countries, including DCO Member States, to assess and enhance their digital economy maturity. Drawing on extensive data, including surveys of over 27,000 people and secondary sources, the DEN serves as a tool for policymakers and business leaders to benchmark progress, identify growth opportunities, and track digital advancements. The initiative aligns with the DCO’s mission to support inclusive and sustainable digital growth worldwide.

Pioneering a Global Framework for Digital Economy Maturity

The DEN is built on three core dimensions: Digital Enablers, Digital Business, and Digital Society, each evaluated through 10 pillars based on over 102 indicators. These dimensions help assess a country’s readiness in adopting digital innovations, fostering economic prosperity, and improving quality of life.

Deemah AlYahya, Secretary-General of the DCO, stated, “The Digital Economy Navigator aims to enhance accessibility, sustainability, and economic prosperity. By providing reliable data and insights, DEN equips countries to navigate the evolving digital landscape, ensuring they lead in the digital era.”

Regional Insights and Future Prospects

The DEN has revealed regional variations in digital maturity. North America leads in digital innovation, followed by Europe, Central Asia, and East Asia. In contrast, South Asia excels in digital work and training, while the Middle East and North Africa stand out in education and healthcare digitization.

The DEN is accessible through its online platform (den.dco.org), offering reports, data analysis, and insights that will evolve to reflect the dynamic nature of the digital economy.
