DEWA showcases its latest portfolio of smart services and initiatives at GITEX 2014

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating at GITEX Technology Week 2014, which is being held from 1216 October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. At its stand (S2-A21 and S3-A21), which is part of the Dubai Smart Government stand, DEWA is presenting its latest smart services and initiatives which support the Smart Dubai initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world.
DEWA has highlighted its main achievements in smart government and services that have been developed to achieve the satisfaction of all customers by giving them easy access to all its services and enabling them to conduct all their transactions, anytime, anywhere.
In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to upgrade government services to the highest international standards, DEWA focuses on improving the services it provides to customers and partners in order to simplify, facilitate and expedite procedures, and achieve their satisfaction and exceed their expectations, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

DEWA has adopted an integrated strategy, and designed innovative plans and frameworks for ongoing improvement in administrative, operational, and service processes. This has enabled us to achieve 100% smart transformation less than a year after the Smart Dubai initiative was announced. This also contributed to DEWA achieving first place among government organisations in the Dubai Government Excellence Programme 2013 with a customer satisfaction index of 94.3%, which is the highest in the world, added Al Tayer.

At GITEX, we showcase our latest smart services, in addition to the three smart initiatives. The first initiative is to encourage households and building owners to install photovoltaic solar panels to produce electricity. It will be connected to the grid and the surplus electricity will be exported to the network; encouraging the use of renewable energy and increasing its share in the energy mix. The second initiative is using smart applications to speed up connections and ensure faster response through immediate reconnection, while conserving smart consumption through smart meters to enhance the happiness and prosperity of all Emiratis and residents, thereby promoting resources sustainability. The third initiative is establishing the infrastructure and charging stations for electric vehicles. Their locations will be identified in coordination with the concerned authorities. This initiative promotes the Emirates role in energy sustainability, added Al Tayer.

Al Tayer emphasised that all the initiatives will contribute significantly and effectively in providing quality services to all Dubais residents and visitors by using the best technologies to diversify the energy mix and support green economy and sustainable development of the Emirate.
"DEWAs stand has attracted a large number of trade visitors on the first day of GITEX. Weve seen a strong response from the audience towards our smart services and initiatives, which is a strong indication of the confidence of our customers in our innovative services to meet their needs. DEWAs participation at GITEX 2014 emphasises our commitment to ongoing communication with our customers and the public to update them about the latest smart services and initiatives across all modern technological platforms, said Moza Al Akraf, Acting CIO of DEWA.
DEWA works to make its services more relevant to customers to meet their daily needs. Our smart application provides a wide range of services and features that are available round the clock. We are currently developing new services to enhance the leading position of DEWA in the area of smart services on a national and global level, added Al Akraf.

During GITEX Technology Week, there will be a daily raffle draw for customers who have used services available on DEWAs smart app. Selected services include Final Bill request, Green Bill registration, Move-In service, Pay for a Friend, and activating mobile-payments on the Auto-Pay feature on DEWAs website (www.dewa.gov.ae).

On the first day of GITEX, DEWA announced the grand draw which gives the customers another chance to enter the raffle draw in February 2015. Customers who pay their electricity and water bills in full for three consecutive months using the smart app or the website (dewa.gov.ae), between 1 August 2014 and 31 January 2015, will qualify for the grand prize raffle draw. Three lucky winners will receive valuable smart devices.
Through its participation at GITEX, DEWA is reaching out to a large segment of customers to encourage the public to use its smart services via DEWAs smart application, which has a number of features and enables the completion of transactions without any delay.
DEWA first used smart technologies in 2009 to then launch of its smart app, enabling it to complete its smart transformation. All DEWAs services are available through its app, which supports iOS and Android platforms for mobile phones, and its feature on its dewa.gov.ae website. It can also be used on other platforms, such as BlackBerry, Windows, Windows Phone, smart watches, Samsung home applications and Etisalats eLife.
DEWA has recently launched its smart app for Google Glass, which improves internal procedures by enabling technicians to detect any faults in stations and substations, and send notifications to DEWAs Enterprise Resource Planning System from SAP. Notifications include details, such as location and images of the fault.
