BurjX Secures FSRA License, Launches ADGM-Regulated Digital Asset Platform with Over 100 Cryptocurrencies

BurjX, a UAE-born digital asset trading platform, has officially received its Financial Services Permission from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). With this license, BurjX becomes one of the region’s few fully regulated platforms authorized for both digital asset brokerage and custody services.

Launching with support for over 100 digital assets, BurjX sets a new benchmark for market access and regulatory compliance in the region’s rapidly growing cryptocurrency sector. This milestone is expected to position BurjX at the forefront of the UAE’s digital finance ecosystem as the country’s crypto market is forecasted to generate nearly US$396 million in revenue in 2025, with an estimated user base of 3.88 million by 2026.

Homegrown Innovation, Global Ambition

Founded and built in the UAE, BurjX is led by CEO Omar Abbas, co-founder of Canada’s NDAX, and Chairman Adam Ferris, a Harvard JD/MBA and former Goldman Sachs executive. “We’re not another imported platform entering the UAE. We’re a homegrown one, built here to lead globally,” said Abbas.

“This launch validates the strength of our infrastructure and the caliber of our team,” added Ferris, emphasizing BurjX’s technical execution and institutional readiness from day one.

To strengthen its governance, the company has appointed Dr. Ryan Lemand to its Board. Lemand, a former Binance board member and ex-Head of Risk at the UAE’s Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), brings deep expertise in digital assets and regulatory frameworks.

Frictionless AED On-Ramps with Zand Bank

BurjX enables users to instantly convert UAE dirhams (AED) into digital assets, thanks to its integration with Zand Bank. This seamless fiat-to-crypto bridge makes BurjX one of the first platforms in the region to offer real-time AED deposits for crypto trading under the oversight of ADGM’s virtual asset regulatory regime.

Institutional-Grade Infrastructure and Custody

Utilizing NASDAQ-grade technology capable of processing over a million transactions per second, and secured through Fireblocks’ MPC wallet system, BurjX delivers high-speed execution, secure custody, and deep liquidity — all within a single unified platform. The company also provides insurance coverage for both hot and cold wallets, reinforcing its commitment to security and compliance.

Private Client Division for High-Net-Worth Investors

To cater to institutions, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals, BurjX has launched a dedicated Private Client Division. This service offers white-glove over-the-counter (OTC) trading, tailored execution strategies, and personalized relationship management, making it one of the most comprehensive digital asset solutions in the region.

Future Roadmap: Scaling Across MENA

Following its official launch, BurjX is preparing to scale operations throughout the UAE and the broader MENA region. With its focus on regulatory rigor, institutional-grade security, and simplified user experience, the platform aims to serve as the Middle East’s trusted on-ramp to the global crypto economy.
