AMD and Aramco to Explore AI Collaboration for Industrial Innovation
AMD, a global leader in high-performance and adaptive computing, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aramco, one of the world's largest integrated energy and chemical companies. The agreement focuses on exploring AI-driven solutions to accelerate industrial AI deployment and enhance digital transformation within the energy sector.
The collaboration aims to evaluate the use of AMD’s advanced computing technologies, including high-performance GPUs and CPUs, to optimize industrial workloads. Key areas of focus include industrial edge AI deployment, cloud strategy, machine learning, predictive analytics, and data center modernization. Additionally, the partnership will explore training on the AMD ROCm software stack and assess AMD's AI capabilities for operational optimization and digital twin technologies.
“Digital transformation is set to shape the future of the energy industry, and AI will be a key driver in building next-generation infrastructure,” said Sami A. Ajmi, Aramco Acting Senior Vice President of Digital & Information Technology. “Our potential collaboration with AMD will enable us to explore opportunities to accelerate AI adoption, upskill employees, and leverage emerging technologies such as machine learning and predictive analytics to drive efficiency and innovation.”
Aramco launched its digital transformation strategy in 2017, focusing on efficiency, sustainability, and workforce development. The partnership with AMD aligns with this vision by integrating big data, AI, and analytics to enhance industrial operations.
“Working with Aramco reinforces AMD’s leadership in high-performance computing and AI-driven solutions,” said Stephanie Dismore, AMD Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East & Africa. “Companies across the Middle East are utilizing AI to enhance their value propositions, and AMD is committed to delivering cutting-edge AI solutions to support them.”
The potential AMD-Aramco collaboration is expected to drive AI-powered advancements in the energy sector, fostering technology-led innovation and strengthening the region’s industrial AI ecosystem.
