Alef Education, a global leader in educational technology based in the UAE, has announced the appointment of Eyad Darawsheh as General Manager of Miqyas Al Dhad, an innovative framework developed to enhance Arabic literacy across the Arab world. Miqyas Al Dhad is a joint initiative between Alef Education and MetaMetrics®, the US-based developer of the Lexile® Framework for Reading.
Miqyas Al Dhad aims to become the standard for Modern Standard Arabic, mirroring the success of the Lexile® Framework for English. It provides Arabic speakers with a powerful tool that links books and educational content with assessments, helping learners improve their reading skills. The system uses an objective measurement approach to evaluate content difficulty levels, enabling educators to find suitable resources for students while creating personalized, data-driven literacy development plans. Parents will also have a clearer understanding of their children’s reading levels, allowing them to support their progress effectively.
Eyad Darawsheh, with over 20 years of experience in education, technology, and publishing, will spearhead the ongoing development and regional adoption of Miqyas Al Dhad. His expertise in managing multinational education products and his track record of driving growth and innovation will be key in rapidly enabling policymakers, education leaders, and publishers to integrate the framework.
