Al Qassimi Hospital, a key facility under Emirates Health Services (EHS), recently conducted an innovative workshop titled "Hand Injury Surgery and Treatment." This initiative, a first within EHS, aims to elevate the standard of care for hand injury patients while enhancing the expertise of healthcare professionals in emergency and orthopaedic medicine.
The workshop provided comprehensive training on the anatomy of the hand and advanced surgical methods for tendon and peripheral nerve reconstruction. It also emphasized physical therapy and rehabilitation, advocating a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. This aligns with Al Qassimi Hospital's mission to strengthen medical staff competencies and deliver world-class healthcare services.
Dr. Saqer Al Mualla, Head of the Plastic Surgery Department, remarked, "This workshop reflects our commitment to advancing medical expertise and staying abreast of the latest developments in specialized healthcare. It supports the UAE’s strategic healthcare objectives and aligns with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision of establishing the nation as a global leader in medical excellence."
Dr. Khalid Aboedrees, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, highlighted the workshop's role in refining surgical skills, which enhances patient outcomes and boosts healthcare efficiency. He reiterated the hospital's focus on delivering care that meets international standards.
This workshop forms part of the hospital's ongoing professional development initiatives. Future plans include annual training programs such as specialized workshops on burn and wound management and essential surgical skills. Al Qassimi Hospital also aims to integrate advanced microsurgical techniques into its training, promoting innovation and expanding the scope of specialized medical care.
