100th cadet completes initial pilot training at Sharjahs Alpha Aviation Academy
Alpha Aviation Academy today announced that the one hundredth cadet has graduated from its pilot training centre in Sharjah, UAE. Since the centre opened in 2008, trainee pilots from more than 40 different nationalities have successfully completed the Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) course, which prepares candidates to enter the world of commercial aviation.
Alpha Aviation Academy is a joint venture between Alpha Aviation Group, a specialist global aviation training provider, and Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africas first and largest low-cost airline. The Academy uses state-of-the art facilities at Sharjah International Airport, including the most technically advanced aircraft simulators and highly experienced instructors, to deliver the 18-month MPL course.
Structured over five phases, the course instils the mindset of a commercial pilot from the outset. It is a competency-based format ensures cadets reach the required skills and behaviours before they can progress to the next phase of training. The MPL is an ongoing course with a new in-take welcomed every two months.
Following completion of ground school, which covers the theoretical knowledge needed to be a commercial pilot, cadets move on to four phases of flying skills, culminating in Advanced Flying Skills and training on the Airbus A320.
