Using cloud infrastructure or outsourcing data processing does not shift liability. If personal data is mishandled, the deploying company remains accountable. Cross-border data transfers, in particular, require strict compliance with UAE data protection laws and international privacy standards.

Startups and tech companies often prioritise rapid growth over compliance during early development. However, investors increasingly evaluate not only a company’s technology but also its internal controls, data privacy policies, and risk management procedures. Strong governance and legal preparedness are now seen as indicators of long-term business sustainability.
