Survey Finds 79% of UAE Women Recognize Real Estate Investment Potential, but Face Barriers to Entry
A new survey has revealed that 79% of women in the UAE acknowledge the long-term security offered by real estate investment, yet the majority have yet to take the plunge, citing limited access to platforms, mentorship, and guidance as key barriers.
The findings were announced during the launch of a new initiative by UK-based property firm Joseph Mews, which aims to empower UAE-based female investors with tools, training, and networks to build lasting wealth through real estate.
Key Findings:
-
100% of women surveyed consider property investment vital for long-term financial security.
-
62.5% report limited access to investment platforms and mentorship opportunities.
-
29% are unfamiliar with the basic steps of purchasing an investment property.
-
46% lack understanding of the difference between income-generating and capital-growth assets.
-
Despite this, 67% feel confident in making independent investment decisions.
Johnny Conran, Managing Partner at Joseph Mews, stated:
“These insights underscore the need for inclusive, practical education for women investors. Through curated sessions and access to prime UK real estate, we’re creating a platform where women can make empowered, informed decisions.”
Support Structures Emerging
Rohit Bachani, Co-founder of Merlin Real Estate, noted the success of their peer mentorship model that connects female investors with experienced women in the field:
“Confidence grows through shared experience. Many of our clients not only invest but later become advocates and mentors themselves.”
His wife and co-founder, Asha Bachani, leads a team focused on guiding first-time female investors through Dubai’s property landscape—from legal frameworks to yield estimates.
Meanwhile, industry-wide efforts are also gaining momentum. Property Finder’s “SheForShe” programme, now in its third edition and relaunched with Women Choice, offers structured mentorship, 36 hours of e-learning, and leadership workshops designed to empower aspiring female professionals in real estate.
Sevgi Gur, CMO at Property Finder, emphasized:
“SheForShe is all about women supporting women. We’re creating a community where future changemakers can thrive and ultimately help shape a more inclusive industry.”
UK Emerges as Top Investment Destination
Interestingly, over 83% of respondents identified the UK as a preferred market for property investment, highlighting the growing interest in international real estate among UAE-based women.
