New Bridge Eases Dubai-Sharjah Commute, Saving Time, Salik Fees, and Fuel Costs

A new bridge connecting Al Khaleej Street to Khalid bin Al Waleed Road has brought major relief to motorists commuting between Sharjah and Dubai. Strategically located just after the Infinity Bridge towards the Sheikh Zayed Road, the bridge has significantly reduced traffic congestion, saving commuters up to 30 minutes, Salik toll charges, and fuel costs.

Despite covering the same distance, the new bridge offers a smoother flow of traffic, especially during morning rush hours. The route has quickly gained popularity among drivers heading to the Sheikh Zayed Road and key business districts such as Al Barsha, the Dubai Frame, and Al Khail Road.

Commuter Savings and Convenience

Muhammed Nadeem, a resident of Al Nahda in Sharjah who travels daily to Al Barsha, said the route has transformed his commute.

“After crossing the Al Mamzar Salik gate, I head toward Corniche Street, cross the Infinity Bridge, and use the new bridge to connect directly to Al Khail Road,” Nadeem explained.

He added that this route not only helps him avoid heavy congestion on Ittihad Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road but also saves him Dh18 to Dh20 daily in Salik fees.
“Previously, I paid Dh6 at each gate and wasted fuel idling in traffic. Now the drive is smooth and cost-effective,” he said.

Reverse Bottleneck Experience

However, while the bridge eases the morning commute, the evening tells a different story.

“Traffic builds up on the Infinity Bridge on the way back, especially near the Waterfront Market and Al Ittihad Road exit,” said Amr Elsaeedi, a marketing executive.

He described the experience as a “reverse bottleneck”—mornings begin narrow and widen out, but evenings start wide and narrow down approaching Sharjah.
“It’s still the best option in the morning, and once the remaining construction on Corniche Street finishes, the evening drive may improve too,” Elsaeedi added.

Improved Commute for Dubai Residents

For residents in Dubai, especially near the New Gold Souk Extension, the bridge has drastically shortened travel time.
Safdar Ali, a finance professional working on the Sheikh Zayed Road, said,

“My commute dropped from 40 minutes to 15 with Salik, or 20 without it. The bridge connects so smoothly that I reach my office with ease.”

His return trip is also stress-free, thanks to a direct exit from the Infinity Bridge to his building’s parking area.
“It’s such a relief. The difference was felt immediately,” he noted.

Residents hope this successful infrastructure upgrade inspires further enhancements to reduce pressure on other major roads linking Dubai and Sharjah.
