Dubai RTA and Dubai Holding Sign Dh6 Billion Agreement to Improve Infrastructure and Reduce Travel Time

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has entered into a Dh6 billion agreement with Dubai Holding to enhance infrastructure across key communities, aiming to reduce travel time by 30-70% through upgraded roads, bridges, and access points.

Major Infrastructure Developments

The agreement will improve infrastructure in several development communities across Dubai, including:

  • Dubai Islands
  • Jumeirah Village Triangle
  • Palm Gateway
  • Al Furjan
  • Jumeirah Park
  • Arjan
  • Majan
  • Liwan (Phase 1)
  • Nad Al Hamar
  • Villanova
  • Serena

Additionally, five major developments will see improved access through new roads and bridges:

  • Jumeirah Village Circle
  • Dubai Production City
  • Business Bay
  • Palm Jumeirah
  • International City (Phase 3)

Key Infrastructure Upgrades

Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC)

  • Four new access points with grade-separated interchanges will double the area’s entry and exit capacity.
  • Expected to reduce travel time by 70% and enhance traffic safety.

Dubai Production City

  • New bridges from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will ease congestion.
  • Travel time on internal roads and access points will be reduced by 50%.

Business Bay

  • Surface upgrades at Sheikh Zayed Road intersections will enhance access.
  • A new pedestrian bridge at First Al Khail Road will improve safety.
  • Internal road upgrades in the Towers Area will reduce travel time by 30%.

Palm Jumeirah

  • Six new acceleration and deceleration lanes will improve traffic flow.
  • Two pedestrian bridges will replace at-grade crossings, enhancing safety.
  • Travel time within Palm Jumeirah will be reduced by 40%.

International City (Phase 3)

  • Entrance roads from Manama Street will be widened with additional lanes.
  • Traffic signals and internal road expansions will streamline movement.
  • Travel time will be cut from 15 minutes to just five minutes.
