Dubai Police to Divide Emirate into ‘Urban’ and ‘Rural’ Zones to Boost Security and Response Times

In a significant step toward enhancing public safety and operational efficiency, Dubai Police has announced the division of the emirate into two distinct zones—urban and rural. The initiative, revealed through the force’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and website, is aimed at improving security coverage and emergency response times across Dubai.

The strategic move is designed to streamline the allocation of resources, including police patrols and personnel, and to leverage advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and smart surveillance systems tailored to each zone’s unique requirements.

Enhanced Operations and Faster Emergency Responses

According to Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, the reorganisation will lead to a more effective deployment of specialised units for security, traffic management, and other critical services.

Brigadier Turki bin Faris also highlighted the operational impact of the new zoning system, stating that it will enable quicker interventions in emergency situations and bolster the force’s ability to ensure community safety.

“This division will significantly enhance our operational efficiency and reinforce the safety, security, and happiness of all residents and visitors in Dubai,” Brigadier bin Faris said.

Alignment with Dubai Urban Plan 2040

The initiative is part of the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, which aims to advance the emirate’s infrastructure and improve public safety. By reorganising the city into zones, Dubai Police seeks to optimise coverage and deliver quicker, more precise responses to incidents, reinforcing the emirate’s standing as one of the safest cities globally.

The new zoning framework also allows for the integration of modern surveillance technologies and real-time data analysis, enabling predictive policing strategies and improved incident management.

The reorganisation is expected to be implemented in phases, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to existing operations.
