Abu Dhabi Police Reminds Residents of Smart Vehicle Impoundment Service

Abu Dhabi Police has reminded residents about its smart vehicle impoundment service, allowing eligible motorists to keep their impounded cars at their homes or another convenient approved location instead of moving them to a traditional impound yard.

Under the service, a smart electronic tracking device is installed on the vehicle while it remains in the custody of its owner. The system enables authorities to monitor the vehicle and ensure that it is not moved from the location declared by the owner.

Conditions for Smart Impoundment

The service is available when a traffic violation has been committed that requires the vehicle to be impounded. Applicants must also sign a declaration and commitment form confirming their compliance with the conditions of the service.

The concerned vehicle owner must be present in person, or the application may be handled by a representative holding an official power of attorney.

Applicants are required to provide their Emirates ID and pay a Dh15 daily fee for the smart impoundment service.

How to Request Home Vehicle Impoundment

Eligible vehicle owners can apply for the service online through TAMM, Abu Dhabi's government services platform.

The application process involves:

1. Log in to the TAMM website.
2. Select “Drive & Transport” from the homepage.
3. Choose “Fines & Violations” from the menu on the left.
4. Select “Home Impounding for Vehicles.”
5. Enter the required details, including the applicant's name, phone number and traffic file number.
6. Complete the application and submit the request.

Once the process is completed, applicants will receive confirmation by SMS or email.

Smart Device Monitors the Vehicle

After the request is approved, a smart tracking device is installed on the vehicle. The device allows authorities to monitor whether the vehicle remains at the location specified in the application.

The system provides motorists with a more convenient way to comply with an impoundment order while keeping the vehicle at home or another approved location. At the same time, the electronic monitoring mechanism allows authorities to ensure that the conditions of the impoundment are followed.

The service is intended to make the vehicle impoundment process more convenient for eligible motorists while maintaining the necessary regulatory oversight.
