United Hospitality Management Appoints Klaus Assmann as COO for Middle East, India & Southeast Asia
United Hospitality Management (UHM), a global leader in luxury and mixed-use hospitality, has announced the appointment of Klaus Assmann as Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia. The move marks a significant step in UHM’s continued expansion across key growth markets in the region.
Bringing nearly 40 years of international leadership in luxury hospitality, Assmann’s appointment is set to drive strategic growth, operational excellence, and brand elevation for the company. He will oversee operations across a diverse portfolio of properties, focusing on performance optimisation and guest experience innovation.
A Proven Track Record in Luxury Hospitality
Assmann’s most recent role was as CEO of Aldar Hotels & Hospitality, where he managed a portfolio of 25 luxury properties and lifestyle destinations with over 4,500 rooms in operation and 3,000 more in development. Under his leadership, Aldar completed AED 1.6 billion (USD $435 million) in renovation and asset enhancement projects, while launching three flagship resorts.
Prior to Aldar, Assmann held senior leadership positions with renowned global brands including Fairmont, Sofitel, Jumeirah, Shangri-La, Park Hyatt, and Nikko Hotels. He has overseen hotel openings and operations in the UK, USA, UAE, Germany, Philippines, Thailand, and other parts of Asia. His deep knowledge in managing integrated hospitality experiences was exemplified during his time at Dubai Parks & Resorts, where he handled operations across hotels, retail, dining, and entertainment.
Key Pre-Opening & Development Experience
Assmann is widely recognized for his extensive expertise in pre-opening operations. His contributions include the successful launch of iconic destinations such as Madinat Jumeirah, The Meydan Hotel, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, Shangri-La Makati, and luxury island resorts in Thailand and the Maldives.
In addition to his operational acumen, Assmann has led Sales & Marketing efforts in markets like London and Germany, reflecting a well-rounded understanding of hospitality management.
A New Chapter at UHM
Following a brief retirement, Assmann returns to the industry with renewed purpose. In his new role at UHM, he will play a key role in scaling the brand’s presence in the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia.
