Statement from His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education on extending Year of Sustainability into 2024
Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, emphasized that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's announcement to extend the Year of Sustainability into 2024 reflects the UAE's steadfast dedication to sustainability. It underscores the leadership's commitment to rallying global efforts against the climate crisis and championing environmental protection, all in pursuit of a brighter future for future generations.
Dr. Al Falasi stated, "The historic consensus reached during COP28 has set new benchmarks for global climate action. This consensus involves establishing a worldwide agreement through clear and practical steps to tackle the climate crisis while promoting sustainable social and economic development for all. Looking forward to 2024, the UAE aims to leverage its extensive international relations network to cultivate partnerships and bolster cooperation, translating agreements into sustainable projects and initiatives that benefit society as a whole."
He further added, "At the Ministry of Education, we are devoted to embedding sustainability into our educational system, fostering awareness among students, enhancing educators' skills, and developing a sustainable infrastructure. Our overarching objective is to actively contribute to facilitating a sustainable societal transformation and extending our knowledge and resources to other nations, assisting them in integrating climate education and sustainability into their educational frameworks. This commitment is grounded in our belief that addressing environmental and climate challenges necessitates international cooperation and collective action to effect the desired positive change."
