SPE Offshore Europe 2025: HIMA Group unveils expanded safety automation solutions for offshore sector

HIMA Group, a global leader in safety automation, is showcasing its enhanced portfolio of functional safety solutions for the offshore industry at SPE Offshore Europe 2025 in Aberdeen. The launch marks the first public presentation of the company’s expanded offerings following the integration of Sella Controls and Origo Solutions into the group.

As the energy sector diversifies from oil and gas into offshore wind, hydrogen, and carbon storage, HIMA is reinforcing its role in delivering safety, security, and efficiency across the entire energy mix. The expanded portfolio brings together expertise from across the group, providing operators and contractors in the European offshore industry with an end-to-end range of safety automation solutions.

Jörg de la Motte, CEO of the HIMA Group, emphasized the importance of the milestone: “We are delighted to present our enhanced solutions portfolio for the first time. The integration of Sella Controls and Origo Solutions proves the power of combined expertise and delivers added value to our offshore customers in the UK, in Norway, and in Continental Europe.”

HIMA’s approach is guided by its #safetygoesdigital strategy, which leverages digitalization to enhance functional safety, OT security, and compliance. At the core of the offering is the independent open safety platform, certified by TÜV, Lloyd’s Register, Bureau Veritas, and DNV. By uniting hardware and software under a single technology platform, HIMA ensures compliance, process efficiency, and plant availability.

Chris Parr, CTO of Sella Controls, highlighted the benefits of the collaboration: “We are glad that we can offer our customers an extended portfolio thanks to being part of the HIMA Group. The synergies between our solutions and HIMA’s expertise open up exciting new opportunities for offshore projects.”

Key highlights at the HIMA booth include:

  • SCADA+: Developed by Origo Solutions, this scalable control and visualization platform supports wind, hydrogen, and oil & gas applications, now enhanced by HIMA integration.

  • SLD Cockpits: Digital dashboards for Safety Lifecycle Digitalization, enabling compliance, efficiency, and real-time productivity optimization.

  • HIPPS: High-Integrity Pressure Protection Systems with Planar 4 technology for critical offshore environments.

  • HIMA TMC: A turbomachinery control solution with SIL3 compliance and advanced load-sharing features.

  • FLOWorX® Pipeline Management & Control: Real-time leak detection and pipeline management, suitable for hydrogen pipelines.

  • SafeHMI: A next-generation human-machine interface with built-in safety features for digitalized operations.

The strengthened collaboration between HIMA, Sella Controls, and Origo Solutions builds on proven offshore projects, combining consulting, engineering, and execution expertise across both conventional and renewable energy domains.

Bjørn-Tore Lenes, CEO of Origo Solutions, added: “SCADA+ has already proven itself in wind farms. We are delighted to further develop our SCADA+ solution together with experts from HIMA for broader offshore applications.”
