Space42 Advances UAE’s SpaceTech with Launch of Second Foresight Constellation Satellite

Space42 (ADX: SPACE42), the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech leader, has announced the successful deployment of the second phase of its Foresight satellite constellation. Partnering with ICEYE, a global pioneer in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite technology, Space42 launched its next-generation SAR spacecraft on January 14, 2025, via SpaceX’s Transporter-12 Rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

The new satellite, Foresight-2, joins Foresight-1 to enhance Earth observation capabilities, aligning with the UAE’s Earth Observation (EO) Space Program. Space42’s SAR constellation, which is set to be fully operational by 2027, uses cutting-edge technology to provide high-resolution, real-time geospatial insights regardless of weather conditions or time of day.

Revolutionizing Earth Observation
The constellation utilizes advanced SAR active sensing systems to deliver unmatched surface imagery and data for critical applications, including disaster mitigation, maritime surveillance, and urban development. Its capabilities allow tracking smaller objects and detecting subtle surface changes, aiding both regional and global challenges.

Leaders Comment on the Achievement
Karim Michel Sabbagh, Managing Director of Space42, expressed enthusiasm for the milestone:
"This successful deployment underscores our strong partnership with ICEYE and our dedication to advancing SpaceTech innovation. It enhances the UAE's EO capabilities, contributing to the National Space Strategy 2030 and fostering local talent."

Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Bayanat Smart Solutions, Space42, highlighted the UAE's growing role in satellite-based Earth observation:
"The Foresight constellation cements the UAE’s position as a global leader in satellite technology. It strengthens our local satellite manufacturing and emergency response preparedness, ensuring high-value service delivery."

Rafal Modrzewski, CEO and Co-Founder of ICEYE, added:
"Our collaboration with Space42 demonstrates the groundbreaking capabilities of ICEYE’s SAR satellites, enhancing the UAE’s space sector and advancing sovereign satellite operations."

UAE’s Strategic Vision for Space
The UAE Earth Observation Space Program, launched in 2023, underscores the nation’s commitment to satellite remote sensing and EO technology. As one of only 20 countries operating SAR space assets, the UAE is strategically positioning itself as a leader in geospatial intelligence and satellite data processing.

Space42 and ICEYE have further solidified their partnership with plans to manufacture SAR satellites within the UAE, ensuring sustainable growth in the nation’s space sector.
