Sheikh Mohammed Approves Construction of 3,000 Homes to Support Young Emirati Families
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved a new housing initiative comprising over 3,000 residential units at an estimated cost of Dh5.4 billion. The initiative aims to promote family stability and improve the quality of life for young Emiratis as they begin their journey into married life.
Supporting Family Life and Stability
The housing project aligns with the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme, launched on January 4, which focuses on strengthening family bonds, enhancing work-life balance, and providing comprehensive social and financial support to Emirati families.
Sheikh Mohammed stated:
“Our goal is to encourage young people to get married, provide decent housing for families, and improve the quality of life for our young people as they start life.”
The allocation of these homes will prioritize participants in the Dubai Weddings Initiative, which is designed to ease the financial and logistical burdens of marriage, enabling young Emiratis to establish stable families.
Housing Distribution
The 3,004 homes will be constructed in various areas across Dubai, including:
- Latifa City: 1,181 homes
- Wadi Al Amardi: 432 homes
- Hatta (Makan area): 200 homes
- Countryside and rural areas: 67 homes
- Al Yalayis 5: 606 homes
- Al Awir 1: 398 homes
- Oud Al Muteena: 120 homes
Additional Benefits under the Programme
The Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme introduces further measures to promote family well-being:
- A 10-day paid marriage leave for Dubai government employees.
- Remote work options on Fridays for mothers during the first year after maternity leave.
- Reduced monthly premiums for housing loans to a minimum of Dh3,333, for participants earning less than Dh30,000 per month.
Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum expressed her commitment to the initiative:
“Strong families are essential to create a better future. We are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of every Emirati family in Dubai, ensuring their lasting happiness and stability while empowering them to nurture future generations who can shape a brighter tomorrow.”
Marking Accession Day
The announcement coincided with Sheikh Mohammed’s Accession Day, which he dedicated this year to his wife, Sheikha Hind, acknowledging her as his "greatest supporter" and the "soul of Dubai."
With this initiative, the Dubai leadership continues to emphasize its dedication to citizen welfare, family stability, and the creation of a brighter future for Emirati families.
