Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is set to offer an array of enriching sessions at Dubai Public Libraries this July as part of the School of Life programme. These sessions aim to enhance the skills of both adults and children, fostering a deeper understanding of body language, expression techniques, emotion regulation, and the building of positive relationships. This initiative aligns with Dubai Culture's commitment to enhancing community well-being and quality of life.

Under the theme ‘Emotional Intelligence and Quality of Life,’ the School of Life sessions will be hosted at Al Safa Art and Design Library, Hatta Public Library, and Al Twar Public Library. At Al Safa and Hatta libraries, adults can attend the ‘Self Improvement - Body Language Skills’ session, presented by Nour Khouri, which aims to boost self-confidence through the use of body language and facial expressions to create positive first impressions. Additionally, the ‘Art of Setting & Decorating Tables’ session at Al Safa Art & Design Library, also led by Nour Khouri, will teach participants the art of table setting according to Swiss benchmarks and international hospitality standards, along with techniques for simple, elegant, modern, and cost-effective table decorations.

For Arabic speakers, the Book Club at Al Safa Art & Design Library will feature a session on the ‘Pygmalion play’ by Dalia Abou Al Atta. This philosophical play explores the conflict between art and life and delves into themes similar to those in Tawfiq al-Hakim's renowned works such as ‘If Youth Knows’ and ‘Food for Every Mouth.’

Children aged six and above can join a four-part series at Al Twar Public Library as part of the Chess Club by Maharat X. The series includes ‘Getting Started with Chess,’ ‘Uncovering Chess Tactics,’ ‘Chess Openings Mastery,’ and ‘Endgame Strategy Essentials.’ These sessions will cover the basics of chess, including board setup, piece movement, fundamental rules, and various tactics and strategies to enhance gameplay and decision-making. Participants will also learn about major chess openings and essential endgame strategies to secure victories.
