Schneider Electric and PureHealth Partner to Advance Sustainable Healthcare in the UAE
Schneider Electric and PureHealth have partnered to explore sustainable healthcare infrastructure, digital innovation and operational efficiency across healthcare facilities in the UAE and the wider region.
Under the collaboration, PureHealth will adopt Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Resource Advisor platform to consolidate energy consumption and emissions data across its facilities. The initiative is intended to support PureHealth’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2040 through advanced energy management, digital monitoring and environmental, social and governance (ESG) data management.
Schneider Electric, a global energy management and automation company, will bring its expertise in electrification, automation, sustainability consulting, digital technologies and artificial intelligence to the partnership. PureHealth operates a healthcare ecosystem spanning hospitals, clinics, laboratories, health technology, insurance, pharmacies and procurement services.
EcoStruxure Platform to Support Energy and Emissions Management
The EcoStruxure Resource Advisor platform will enable PureHealth to consolidate sustainability information across its portfolio and strengthen the management of its environmental performance.
The collaboration will focus on three areas:
-
Energy efficiency: Advanced energy management solutions to support more efficient operations across healthcare facilities.
-
Digital transformation and AI: Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled monitoring, predictive maintenance and ESG data management.
-
Sustainability advisory: Support for sustainable building design, green building certifications and circular economy practices.
The platform will also support the management of Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, helping PureHealth track its progress towards its science-based net zero target for 2040.
Olivier Blum, Chief Executive Officer of Schneider Electric, said healthcare providers had an opportunity to lead the transition towards more sustainable, efficient and resilient operations.
“By combining Schneider Electric's expertise in electrification, digitalisation, automation, and sustainability with PureHealth's leadership in healthcare, we look forward to exploring innovative solutions that can accelerate decarbonisation while enhancing operational performance across healthcare ecosystems,” Blum said.
PureHealth Targets Net Zero Emissions by 2040
The partnership supports PureHealth’s broader sustainability objectives, including its commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2040. The target has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative.
PureHealth reported that it reduced its greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 37% between 2022 and 2024. The collaboration with Schneider Electric is intended to build on that progress by embedding energy management and sustainability data systems across its healthcare portfolio.
Shaista Asif, Group Chief Executive Officer of PureHealth, said sustainability was becoming an important consideration in how healthcare facilities are designed and operated.
“The future of healthcare depends on building systems that are not only clinically advanced but also sustainable, resilient and equipped to meet the needs of generations to come,” Asif said. She added that integrating sustainability into healthcare environments could strengthen long-term performance while supporting better health outcomes for communities.
Partnership Aligns with UAE Climate Goals
The collaboration comes as the UAE advances its national climate commitments. The country has pledged to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and, under its third Nationally Determined Contribution, has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 47% by 2035.
The UAE Climate Change Law, which took effect in May 2025, requires entities to measure, report and reduce their emissions. The partnership’s energy-efficiency initiatives and ESG data management capabilities are intended to help PureHealth’s facilities respond to these requirements.
In Abu Dhabi, the Department of Health has set a target for the emirate’s healthcare sector to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.
PureHealth’s 2040 net zero commitment places its target ahead of the emirate’s sector-wide 2050 goal. Through the collaboration, the organisations aim to explore solutions that can accelerate healthcare decarbonisation, support digital transformation and improve operational performance.
The partnership reflects a wider effort to integrate sustainability into healthcare infrastructure while supporting the UAE’s climate objectives and the long-term resilience of healthcare services across the region.
