SCC Middle East has appointed technology executive Shams Hasan as Vice President of Sales as the company expands its UAE-based team and increases its focus on growth across the Middle East.
Hasan will oversee commercial development across the region, including efforts to expand SCC Middle East's customer base and strengthen engagement with government organisations, critical industries and large enterprises.
Hasan brings regional technology experience
Hasan joins SCC from VAST Data, where he most recently led sales and strategy across the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa and served on the regional leadership team. He was involved in building the company's regional business from its early stages.
Before joining VAST Data, Hasan held senior positions at Dell Technologies in the UK and across the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa. During his tenure, he also led Dell's Realizing 2030 research initiative in the region.
His appointment comes as SCC Middle East develops its regional operations around demand for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud, data and mission-critical infrastructure.
Daniel Valle, CEO of SCC Middle East, said Hasan's regional experience and relationships would support the company's plans to expand while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
“Shams understands it extremely well. More importantly, he knows the people and organisations shaping it,” Valle said. “He brings relationships, credibility and experience in areas that are becoming increasingly important to our customers, particularly as AI moves from experimentation into real operational environments.”
Focus on AI infrastructure
Hasan's appointment also adds experience in AI infrastructure at a time when organisations across the Gulf are examining the infrastructure, data, security and sovereignty requirements associated with AI deployment.
The company said Hasan has worked with organisations across the region as they have moved from exploring AI applications towards addressing the practical requirements of deploying the technology in operational environments.
He is also expected to join Valle and the SCC Middle East team at AI Everything Abu Dhabi, alongside VAST Data, where they will engage with customers, partners and prospective customers on requirements related to secure and sovereign AI implementation.
Hasan said SCC's independent and family-owned structure was among the factors that attracted him to the company.
“What drew me to SCC is a combination that is genuinely quite rare. There is more than 50 years of experience behind the business, but it remains independent and family owned,” Hasan said.
He added that the company's structure allows it to focus on customer requirements rather than being tied to a particular technology or solution.
SCC continues Middle East investment
Hasan holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he received Dean's Honors, and an MBA from London Business School, where he graduated with Distinction.
SCC's investment in its Middle East operations forms part of the privately owned technology group's broader international growth strategy.
Founded more than 50 years ago, SCC has remained family-owned and has grown into an independent technology solutions and services organisation in Europe. The company said its ownership structure supports a long-term approach to investment and customer relationships.
