Salam and Water Transmission Company Sign MoU to Explore Connectivity Opportunities

Etihad Salam Telecom Company (Salam) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Water Transmission Company (WTCO) to explore opportunities for collaboration in connectivity services and support the development of advanced digital infrastructure across Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was announced during LEAP 2026, where Salam is participating as a strategic sponsor under the theme “Powering what’s next.”

The MoU establishes a framework for Salam and WTCO to assess potential business opportunities in connectivity services by leveraging their respective infrastructure and capabilities. The collaboration aims to explore reliable, scalable and high-capacity connectivity solutions that can support the Kingdom’s expanding digital requirements.

Eng. Mohammed Al-Jadah, Chief Strategic Planning and Development Officer at WTCO, said the partnership provides an opportunity to examine how the company’s infrastructure capabilities can support Saudi Arabia’s evolving digital connectivity needs.

He added that strategic partnerships and more efficient use of national infrastructure assets could help maximise the value of WTCO’s asset portfolio while contributing to resilient, sustainable and future-ready infrastructure in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Under the agreement, the two companies will evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of potential connectivity opportunities. This will include assessing infrastructure requirements, possible routes, interconnection options and potential delivery models.

Eng. Amjad Arab, Chief Carrier and Wholesale Officer at Salam, said the partnership represents an important step in the company’s efforts to expand its connectivity capabilities through collaboration with national infrastructure stakeholders.

According to Salam, the companies will explore how complementary infrastructure assets could be used to extend network reach, improve scalability and resilience, and facilitate high-capacity connectivity services.

The partnership reflects the shared objective of Salam and WTCO to explore innovative infrastructure models that can improve connectivity, optimise the use of existing national assets and contribute to a stronger digital infrastructure ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.

The collaboration also supports the Kingdom’s wider digital transformation ambitions under Vision 2030, as demand for reliable and high-capacity connectivity continues to grow across industries and infrastructure sectors.
