Qatar’s CRA Strengthens National Expertise in IPv6 and Internet Routing Security
Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), in collaboration with the RIPE NCC, is conducting a six-week specialised training programme to strengthen national technical capabilities in Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) deployment and Internet routing security.
The programme brings together approximately 45 members of the Qatar IPv6 Taskforce and supports CRA’s efforts to develop specialist skills while improving the security and resilience of the country’s Internet infrastructure.
Six-Week Programme Combines Live and Self-Paced Learning
Designed for representatives from across Qatar’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, the programme is being delivered through the RIPE NCC Remote Learning Experience.
It combines live online training sessions with self-paced courses through the RIPE NCC Academy. Participants will also have the opportunity to sit a professional certification examination and receive a certificate upon successfully passing it.
The training focuses on strengthening expertise in IPv6 deployment and Internet routing security, two areas considered important to maintaining stable, secure and resilient digital infrastructure.
Training Supports Qatar’s Digital Development Goals
Mr. Ali Al Suwaidi, Technical Affairs Department Director at CRA, said the initiative reflects the authority’s commitment to developing national technical capabilities and ensuring Qatar’s Internet infrastructure remains secure, reliable and prepared for evolving demands.
He noted that the programme supports the objectives of the Digital Agenda 2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030 by equipping ICT professionals with specialised knowledge and skills.
Al Suwaidi also highlighted the importance of collaboration with RIPE NCC in promoting knowledge sharing and developing technical expertise across the sector.
RIPE NCC Highlights Importance of IPv6 and Routing Security
Dr. Chafic Chaya, Regional Manager for Public Policy and Government Affairs, Middle East at the RIPE NCC, said the strong participation demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to building the technical capabilities required for secure and resilient Internet infrastructure.
He emphasised that IPv6 deployment and routing security are essential areas of expertise for supporting the Internet’s stability, security and continued development.
The RIPE NCC is an independent, not-for-profit organisation responsible for coordinating and managing Internet number resources across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. It also provides training and technical services to develop specialist capabilities and support the stability and security of Internet infrastructure.
