Moro Hub Partners with Univers to Drive AI and IoT Energy Innovations Across the UAE

Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (PJSC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Univers, a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for the energy sector. The agreement aims to accelerate the adoption of AI-driven technologies that enhance renewable energy, storage, electrification, and commercial and industrial (C&I) energy management across the UAE.

The partnership was formalized during WETEX 2025, held from 30 September to 2 October at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and was signed by Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of Digital DEWA, and Maher Chebbo, Managing Director, Europe at Univers.

Speaking about the collaboration, Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar said:

“This collaboration with Univers marks an important milestone in our mission to drive digital innovation in the service of sustainability. AI and IoT are reshaping how we generate, manage, and optimise energy, and by combining our expertise with Univers’ global leadership, we will contribute significantly to the UAE’s clean energy agenda while creating solutions that can be replicated across the wider Middle East.”

Under the agreement, Moro Hub and Univers will jointly explore and deploy AI-based analytics and IoT technologies that strengthen renewable energy infrastructure and improve operational performance. The collaboration will focus on key areas such as solar and wind energy optimization, predictive maintenance, and AI-enabled monitoring and control systems to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.

The partnership will also target commercial and industrial (C&I) energy management, including innovations in HVAC optimization, carbon footprint reduction, AI-powered microgrids, and flexibility management. These initiatives are expected to enhance energy reliability, support decarbonization goals, and create smarter, more resilient energy systems.

Maher Chebbo, Managing Director, Europe at Univers, highlighted the regional significance of the collaboration:

“The UAE and the Middle East are at the forefront of renewable energy innovation. Our partnership with Moro Hub reflects our shared belief that AI is a powerful enabler of energy transition. By leveraging Univers’ global experience in managing 845 GW of renewable energy and Moro Hub’s digital innovation capabilities, we will accelerate the region’s journey toward a more sustainable, intelligent energy future.”

The MoU underscores the shared vision of Moro Hub and Univers to support the UAE’s ambition of becoming a global clean energy leader and advancing the nation’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative. By integrating Moro Hub’s digital transformation expertise with Univers’ AI leadership, the collaboration promises to drive impactful progress in sustainability, energy efficiency, and smart technology adoption.
