Ministry of Culture Engages with UAE Journalists Association to Enhance Cultural Initiatives

 The Ministry of Culture welcomed a delegation from the Emirates Journalists Association at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, fostering discussions on collaborative efforts to enhance cultural initiatives and promote the significance of both tangible and intangible heritage in strengthening the UAE’s national identity.

His Excellency Mubarak Al Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, received the delegation led by Fadila Abdullah Al Muaini, Chairperson of the Emirates Journalists Association, along with board members Mohamed Al Tunaiji and Hasan Omran. The meeting served as a platform to explore ways the two entities could work together to support the Ministry’s diverse programs and initiatives.

The discussions highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and the journalists' association in promoting the UAE's cultural efforts on regional and international stages. Participants emphasized the need to sustain cultural and creative industries while nurturing local talent. The vital role of media institutions in raising awareness about both tangible and intangible heritage issues was also a key focus, as well as their potential to amplify the Ministry's initiatives in this critical area.

During the meeting, the delegation received an extensive overview of the Ministry of Culture's initiatives aimed at enhancing the UAE's cultural and creative industries. A notable project discussed was the National Grant Programme for Culture and Creativity, reflecting the UAE's commitment to developing and sustaining these sectors. The delegation also learned about the Ministry's successful initiatives that contributed to the UAE's recent election to UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for the 2024-2028 term, highlighting the country's dedication to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage.

Fadila Al Muaini, in her remarks, provided insight into the Emirates Journalists Association's activities and programs, emphasizing its efforts to support journalists and elevate Emirati journalism as a true voice of the UAE and the broader Arab world. She reiterated the association's commitment to raising cultural and professional standards among journalists, nurturing local talent, and encouraging active participation in the media landscape.
