Local inventors shine at GEMS 5th Annual Maker Day
Dubai: 'Innovation' was the keyword at the GEMS Education-hosted fifth annual edition of Maker Day - a community celebration of development and imagination - on February 6 at the GEMS Wellington Academy Dubai Silicon Oasis campus.
Some of the vital inventions seen were the 'Transportation Robot': a robotic designed to assist move people through the metro; 'Technobike': a gizmo to conserve the non-renewable resources of energy like electrical power and at the same time keep our health; 'Internet of Things Irrigation System': to keep an eye on water use; the 'Drone rescue system': to track and discover individuals in difficult to reach locations; amongst numerous hundred other projects. These were among the 215 initial student jobs showed at the event.
The Maker Day 2016, available to general public was participated in by over 6,000 people and consisted of exhibits, designs and creative ideas that intend to improve communities through shared learning. Initial interactive exhibitions developed by students ranged from personally created developments, apps, video games, robotics and engineering jobs to 3D printed projects, environment solutions, and rockets.
Over 60 workshops on various themes of innovation and creativity were held for visitors.
