International kite fliers to showcase skills at Dubai International Kite Fest
The 20th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival will be soaring high this weekend when the Dubai International Kite Fest, the first large-scale event of its kind in Dubai, takes off at Jumeirah Beach 3 (behind Sunset Mall) on 29 January.
The 3-day family-friendly event, which is a main attraction of the 20th edition of DSF, will see professional kite fliers from more than 25 countries participating with kites of various types, shapes and and sizes. The kite fest will conclude on 31 January, with an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most number of kites being flown simultaneously . The record-breaking feat will be attempted by over 15,000 participants who will be flying kites at the same time at 15 or more locations across the city.
Further, the event will give beachgoers the opportunity to watch international kite flying teams perform various kite flying acts including sports Kite flying, Kite surfing, Kite buggying, Kite boarding, night Kite flying with illumination and much more. Face painting, kite making workshops, balloon benders, portrait artists, spot photography, food courts, and other activities, make the Dubai International Kite Fest an ideal event for families.
In an effort to raise awareness about environmental conversation, Dubai International Kite Fest will launch the Green Dubai Clean Dubai Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Every participant in the Guinness World Record bid will be given an indoor sapling along with a certificate imprinted with the participants name as part of the event.
In addition to the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and organisers of DSF, Dubai International Kite Fest is supported by its partners Dubai Municipality, American Kite Fliers Association and Gomberg international.
