India GCC Trade Council Welcomes Bency George to Board of Directors

The India GCC Trade Council today announced the appointment of Bency George, Director of Corporate International Relations at the Indian Economic Trade Organization, to its prestigious Board of Directors. In his new role, Mr. George will also serve on the Council’s Nominating & Governance Committee and the Free Trade Agreement & Human Resources Committee.

“We are thrilled to welcome a leader of Bency’s calibre to our board,” said Saad Al Dabbagh, Chairman of the Board. “With his proven track record in advancing bilateral trade diplomacy, his appointment strengthens our ability to support businesses and trade organizations in building a more sustainable future while driving long-term, profitable growth.”

Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the India GCC Trade Council, further emphasized Bency George’s invaluable contributions: “Bency’s leadership will be instrumental as we continue to foster economic collaboration between India and the GCC region.”

Prior to this appointment, Mr. George served as Director of the Asian Arab Chamber of Commerce, a global organization dedicated to integrating economic diplomacy across diverse sectors, including export development, IT education, engineering, and large-scale IT modernization for governments. His experience includes a tenure as Chief Operating Officer at the India Africa Trade Council, where he held the position of Director of Global Markets & Missions from 2022-2023.

Currently, Mr. George is conducting an industry tour across the Middle East to gather insights in preparation for the execution of the India GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA). This comprehensive FTA is expected to create significant job opportunities and elevate living standards in both regions, while expanding and diversifying India's trade relationships with the GCC, its largest trading bloc.

The India GCC Trade Council, registered as a non-profit entity under NITI AYOG, Government of India, focuses on promoting economic diplomacy between India and the GCC nations, with a special emphasis on the SME sector. The Council has offices in Oman, Saudi Arabia, New Delhi, Bangalore, Kochi, Mumbai, Pune, Kuwait, Dubai, and is rapidly expanding into other regions.
