HBMSU reimagines the future of quality in the digital era during World Quality Week 2025

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) marked World Quality Week 2025 with a virtual event that explored how emerging technologies are reshaping the meaning of quality in the digital age. Held under the global theme “Quality: Think Differently,” the event reflected the University’s ongoing commitment to redefining excellence through innovative, agile, and future-focused approaches.

The session, titled “AI and the Future of Quality: Insights from Experts,” brought together learners, alumni, and professionals from multiple sectors. Discussions centred on the need to move beyond traditional quality frameworks and embrace models that align with rapid digital transformation, evolving technologies, and new expectations for institutional performance.

The event began with a keynote address by Prof. Jamal Abu Rashed, Dean of the School of Business and Quality Management at HBMSU. His address, “Leading Quality in the Digital World: HBMSU’s Vision for the Future,” outlined the University’s leadership in the region’s quality education landscape. Prof. Abu Rashed emphasised HBMSU’s focus on learner-centred smart education, continuous improvement, and strategic use of technology as core pillars of its quality philosophy.

He underscored the importance of preparing future-ready quality leaders capable of agile thinking, data-driven decision-making, and fostering a sustainable culture of excellence. According to Prof. Abu Rashed, quality today must be understood as a dynamic and forward-looking mindset rather than a static, procedural system.

A panel discussion followed, titled “How Transformative Technologies Are Rewriting the Rules of Quality.” Experts examined the growing influence of AI, automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain across sectors such as education, government, and industry. Panellists highlighted how transformative technologies are not merely tools but pivotal forces reshaping quality standards and enabling new pathways to institutional excellence. They also noted that informed, conscious leadership is essential for guiding organisations through these shifts.

Commenting on the event, Prof. Abu Rashed noted: “At HBMSU, we view quality as a forward-looking and dynamic philosophy. Transformative technologies are catalysts for redefining how excellence is envisioned, measured, and achieved. Through initiatives like this, we aim to empower learners and partners to lead impactful transformations across industries.”

The virtual event concluded with a call for professionals and academics to rethink quality through adaptable, innovative, and proactive leadership models capable of meeting the demands of the digital era.

Through its ongoing initiatives and thought leadership, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University continues to strengthen the integration of academic research, industrial innovation, and practical application—preparing a new generation of quality leaders equipped to shape the future with a renewed mindset.
