Etihad Rail opens pedestrian bridge linking Dubai station with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro
Etihad Rail has opened a 375-metre pedestrian bridge connecting its Dubai Al Yalayis Station directly with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station, providing passengers with access to Dubai Metro’s Red Line and enabling smoother connections between intercity rail and urban public transport.
The bridge, which takes approximately five minutes to cross, features signage and wayfinding to guide passengers between the two stations. It allows travellers arriving in Dubai on Etihad Rail’s passenger service to continue their journeys by Metro, while Metro users can access Etihad Rail services for intercity travel.
The opening follows the official launch of Etihad Rail’s national passenger network and forms part of efforts to integrate rail services with existing public transport systems across the UAE.
Integrated ticket for Etihad Rail and Dubai Metro
Passengers connecting between Etihad Rail and Dubai Metro can purchase an integrated ticket covering both parts of their journey in a single transaction. The ticket is accessed through a QR code that validates travel across the two services.
Tickets are available through the Etihad Rail mobile application, the company’s website and ticket machines at stations.
Passengers are advised to check the travel requirements and arrangements for each service before departure, as Etihad Rail and Dubai Metro operate under separate service conditions.
Etihad Rail highlights improved connectivity
Mohammed Alshehhi, Chief Projects Officer at Etihad Rail, said the bridge would strengthen connections between the national railway network and Dubai’s public transport system.
He said the initiative would give residents, citizens and visitors more choice and flexibility when travelling between cities and continuing their journeys within Dubai.
Alshehhi added that better transport integration could strengthen links between communities, economic centres and tourism destinations, while supporting investment and the UAE’s wider development objectives.
RTA says link supports integrated mobility
Abdul Muhsen Kalbat, CEO of the Rail Agency at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), described the direct connection as a step towards a more integrated transport system across the UAE.
He said the link would allow passengers to combine intercity rail travel with urban mobility through a connected travel experience.
Kalbat also highlighted cooperation between the RTA and Etihad Rail, saying the initiative supports Dubai’s development as a hub for smart and sustainable mobility and helps improve transport access for residents and visitors.
Part of the UAE’s wider transport integration
The pedestrian bridge is intended to make transfers between Etihad Rail and Dubai Metro more convenient, reducing the need for passengers to arrange separate onward transport between the stations.
By linking intercity and urban rail services, the connection offers another option for travellers moving between destinations across Dubai and other parts of the UAE.
