Emirates NBD Launches "Riddles with Freej" Contest Offering Weekly AED 10,000 Prizes During Ramadan

In celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT) region, has announced the launch of a unique and interactive contest called "Riddles with Freej". The contest, featuring the popular Emirati animated series Freej, aims to entertain, engage, and inspire audiences while spreading meaningful social messages throughout Ramadan.

As part of the initiative, participants will have the chance to win AED 10,000 every week by simply watching the episodes and answering themed questions inspired by the storyline. The campaign is aligned with Emirates NBD's commitment to community engagement and is also a part of its support for the UAE’s 'Year of Community', declared earlier this year by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Celebrating Ramadan with Freej Characters

The "Riddles with Freej" contest will bring back the beloved Emirati animated characters from Freej, allowing families to enjoy light-hearted content infused with powerful social messages centered around Ramadan values such as kindness, generosity, empathy, and respect. Each week, a new episode will be released across Emirates NBD’s social media platforms, showcasing a specific theme related to Ramadan traditions and community values.

The stories will emphasize acts of goodwill such as:

  • Donating to charity.
  • Reducing food waste.
  • Practicing generosity and kindness toward others.
  • Volunteering and helping the less fortunate.

After watching the episode, viewers will be invited to answer a riddle or question related to the episode’s theme in the comments section. One lucky winner will receive a cash prize of AED 10,000 each week throughout the Holy Month.

Promoting Community Spirit Through Entertainment

Commenting on the launch of the campaign, Marwan Hadi, Group Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates NBD, said:

“Ramadan is a time of reflection, kindness, and generosity, and we are proud to celebrate it with our community through an initiative that blends entertainment with meaningful messages. With the return of the iconic Freej characters, we aim to inspire audiences to embrace the true spirit of Ramadan, while giving them the opportunity to win exciting prizes along the way.”

Hadi further emphasized that the contest aligns with Emirates NBD’s mission to strengthen community engagement, particularly in support of the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’. By using relatable characters like Abood, Um Saeed, and Um Khammas, the campaign aims to convey socially impactful messages while ensuring Ramadan traditions remain deeply rooted in Emirati culture.

How to Participate in the Contest

The "Riddles with Freej" contest is designed to be simple and interactive. To participate, individuals must:

  1. Watch the weekly Freej episodes posted on Emirates NBD’s official social media channels.
  2. Answer the episode’s riddle or question in the comments section.
  3. Follow Emirates NBD’s social channels to stay updated on upcoming episodes and announcements.
  4. One lucky winner will be selected weekly to receive AED 10,000 as a cash prize.

The contest will run for four weeks throughout Ramadan, concluding with a grand finale episode during the last week of Ramadan.

Emirates NBD's Support for the Year of Community

The launch of the "Riddles with Freej" contest is a significant reflection of Emirates NBD’s ongoing support for the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’, an initiative aimed at fostering stronger social bonds, unity, and cultural preservation within the country. As a leading financial institution, Emirates NBD has consistently championed community-driven initiatives, and this contest further demonstrates its commitment to preserving Emirati heritage while celebrating the values of Ramadan.

The bank believes that engaging the younger generation through popular Emirati content like Freej not only promotes family bonding but also ensures the preservation of cultural traditions in modern times.
