Dubai Municipality has announced the return of the Ramadan Souq, with its third season set to begin today, January 25, 2025. The event will run until February 22 at the Old Municipality Street Square in the Grand Souq, Deira. The initiative aims to preserve traditional customs, celebrate Dubai’s rich heritage, and position traditional markets as vibrant tourist attractions.
Celebrating Heritage and Community
The Ramadan Souq seeks to uphold the authenticity of traditional customs in preparation for the holy month while offering a platform for investors to showcase and promote their products. It features a diverse range of recreational, tourism, and commercial activities catering to all segments of the community, including families, tourists, and culture enthusiasts.
Visitors can enjoy competitive prices on a variety of Ramadan supplies, products for the ‘Haq Al Laila’ celebration, and other goods. A miniature souq will be set up alongside the historic Deira Souq, with longstanding shopkeepers offering an authentic shopping experience.
Activities and Attractions
The event will include:
- Commercial Displays: A wide array of food, personal items, and household goods.
- Live Entertainment: Performances reflecting the region’s cultural heritage.
- Workshops and Children's Activities: Interactive sessions designed for families.
The souq will be open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, ensuring accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
Promoting Dubai’s Heritage and Tourism
Asem Al Qassim, Director of Architectural Heritage and Antiquities at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the importance of the event.
“The Ramadan Souq celebrates the arrival of the holy month and preserves the cultural legacy of traditional markets, which are a living testament to Dubai's history. By hosting the event in the Grand Souq area of Deira, we reaffirm its role as a hub for shopping and cultural exploration,” he said.
The initiative also reflects Dubai Municipality’s efforts to enhance tourism, entertainment, and commercial activities across the emirate, boosting investment and demand for public and entertainment facilities.
