Dubai International Program for Writing Launches Novel Writing Workshop in Jordan
The Dubai International Program for Writing (DIPW), a flagship initiative of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), has kicked off a four-month-long Novel Writing Workshop in Jordan. Held at the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation (AHSF) in Amman, this workshop is led by Dr. Shahla Ujayli, a distinguished author and lecturer specializing in Arabic literature.
This workshop, focused on Arabic literature and fiction, aims to nurture young literary talents by providing them with essential skills in novel and creative writing. Through modern training techniques, participants will receive practical training and ongoing guidance to enhance their abilities and create unique literary works.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of the MBRF, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "We are delighted to strengthen the MBRF’s vital contributions to reinforcing the literary and knowledge landscape in Jordan through our Novel Writing Workshop, especially to support young people. Our major focus is to support young literary talents by refining their writing skills. This workshop, which comes as part of the initiatives organized by DIPW across numerous Arab cities, reflects the commitment of the MBRF to expand its support and empowerment channels for youth across the Arab region.”
The workshop aligns with DIPW's vision to bolster the literary and knowledge movement within Arab communities while supporting young talents in novel writing. Under Dr. Shahla Ujayli's guidance, participants will benefit from top-tier education and practical sessions, essential for budding writers to thrive in the regional and global literary landscape.
In addition to novel writing, DIPW organizes workshops on various literary topics, including translation, children’s literature, and literary criticism. These initiatives aim to support writers across the Arab world, foster a passion for reading, and strengthen the role of literature in society.
Over the past decade, DIPW has trained over 400 young writers and published approximately 200 books in various literary genres. Some of these publications have earned prestigious accolades, contributing significantly to the literary landscape of the Arab world.
