Dubai Chambers and ICC launch benchmarking tool to enhance global chamber performance
Dubai Chambers, in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the World Chambers Federation (WCF), has unveiled the Chamber Benchmarking Tool, a pioneering platform designed to help chambers of commerce worldwide measure and improve their performance against global best practices.
The initiative was introduced at the 14th World Chambers Congress in Melbourne, Australia, where more than 1,200 chamber leaders and officials from over 100 countries gathered to explore innovative solutions for strengthening global business networks.
Driving institutional excellence
The Chamber Benchmarking Tool aims to transform the global chamber ecosystem by empowering institutions to enhance their services, streamline operations, and achieve greater competitiveness. It evaluates seven core functions:
-
Economic research and business intelligence
-
Advocacy and policy representation
-
International trade and investment promotion
-
Training and workforce development
-
Networking and collaboration
-
Advisory and support services
-
Legal and dispute resolution
It also measures key aspects of operational excellence such as strategic alignment, process efficiency, governance, partnerships, innovation, financial impact, and member satisfaction.
Leaders’ perspectives
H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating:
“This initiative reflects Dubai’s position as a global hub for excellence and institutional innovation. It aligns with the emirate’s commitment to shaping a resilient and sustainable future for business communities worldwide by promoting cross-border collaboration, fostering knowledge-driven partnerships, and advancing agile, forward-looking solutions to navigate an evolving economic landscape.”
John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary General of the ICC, added:
“The launch of the Chamber Benchmarking Tool marks a milestone in empowering chambers worldwide with the insights they need to thrive. We are grateful to Dubai Chambers for their leadership and expertise, which have been pivotal in bringing this vision to life.”
Data-driven insights
Developed with input from a steering committee of international experts and based on an in-depth study of 19 chambers worldwide, the tool offers a comprehensive framework for self-assessment and comparative analysis. It provides tailored recommendations, access to global case studies, and insights into emerging trends, enabling chambers to elevate their capabilities and adapt to a rapidly changing economic landscape.
