Bridgestone EMEA Awarded Third Consecutive Platinum Rating in 2023 EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment

Bridgestone EMEA has once again achieved the prestigious Platinum rating from EcoVadis, a renowned sustainability assessment platform. This marks the third consecutive year that Bridgestone EMEA has received EcoVadis’ top ranking since 2021, positioning the organization in the top 1 percent of the 130,000 companies assessed by EcoVadis globally across 220 industry sectors.

The journey to Platinum status for Bridgestone EMEA began in 2015 when the organization received a Silver rating and was ranked in the top 12 percent of businesses globally by EcoVadis. Since then, Bridgestone EMEA has demonstrated consistent improvement, climbing to the top 7 percent in 2016, then to the top 4 percent in 2018. The organization achieved Gold status in 2019 before attaining Platinum status for the first time in 2021.

Guided by its global corporate sustainability framework and the Bridgestone E8 Commitment, Bridgestone is transforming into a sustainable solutions company with a vision toward 2050. The Platinum EcoVadis rating for 2023 coincided with a year of significant sustainability accomplishments for Bridgestone EMEA, including:

  • The installation of 21,000 solar panels at Bridgestone’s Burgos plant in Spain, one of the company’s most advanced facilities in terms of energy transition. This initiative allows the plant to obtain electricity directly from the sun, accounting for 10-14 percent of its electricity consumption.

  • Continued efforts to drive sustainability through the company’s supply chain, including the innovative Sustainable Supply Chain Financing initiative. This program provides financing to suppliers based on their EcoVadis sustainability rating, resulting in improvements for 20 percent of enrolled suppliers and an advanced level reached by 36 percent.

  • Publication of Bridgestone EMEA’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Report, outlining the company’s ambitions and actions to enhance diversity and representation within its workforce.

  • Multiple projects and initiatives under the Bridgestone Global Road Safety Program, aimed at promoting road safety and supporting the United Nations goal of halving road deaths and injuries by 2030. Activities in EMEA included tire check events, road safety trainings, and education programs reaching over 20,000 beneficiaries.

Laurent Dartoux, Group President of Bridgestone EMEA, expressed pride in the organization's achievement, stating, “Maintaining our Platinum EcoVadis rating reflects our ongoing commitment to all areas of sustainability and the progress we’re making as an evolving company, guided by the Bridgestone E8 Commitment."

As Bridgestone EMEA continues its sustainability journey, the organization remains dedicated to driving positive change and contributing to a more sustainable future.
