BRICS Urban Future Forum Attracts Over 13,000 Attendees from 30 Countries

The Cloud City BRICS Urban Future Forum concluded in Moscow, attracting more than 13,000 attendees from over 30 countries on September 18-19. Experts convened to explore sustainable urban development in BRICS member countries. Moscow, the event’s host city, was honored with the World Innovation Award for its achievements in environmental innovation, and ranked first among BRICS cities for technological and spatial development.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Rae Kwon Chung chaired the forum, highlighting Moscow's leadership in addressing environmental challenges. Notable keynote speakers included Jeffrey Sachs, Daron Acemoğlu, and Maimunah Mohd Sharif, discussing the transformative role of technology, AI, and sustainable innovations in megacities. Sachs emphasized the importance of cooperation among BRICS nations, while Acemoğlu cautioned against over-reliance on AI in urban management.

The forum also announced Moscow’s top ranking in the BRICS Urban & Innovation Environment Index and its third-place position in the BRICS-250 business capital rating. The event showcased cutting-edge urban technologies, with Moscow companies exhibiting innovations in recycling, robotics, and EV charging solutions.

Inaugurating the BRICS Green Cities Forum, the event offered extensive discussions on minimizing environmental impacts and promoting sustainable development. Experts from Russia, UAE, and WHO shared insights on green innovations and environmental protection in urban planning, advancing the global agenda on sustainability.
