Abu Dhabi Art Fair Announces Dates for 17th Edition and Names Emirati Artist Shaikha Al Mazrou as Visual Campaign Artist

Prestigious Art Fair to Take Place from November 19 to 23 at Manarat Al Saadiyat

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has officially announced that the 17th edition of Abu Dhabi Art will be held from November 19 to 23, 2025, at Manarat Al Saadiyat. This highly anticipated event continues to play a pivotal role in the UAE’s vibrant art scene, attracting collectors, enthusiasts, and emerging artists.

In a significant highlight, Emirati artist Shaikha Al Mazrou has been selected as the visual campaign artist for this year’s edition. Known for her innovative approach to contemporary art, Al Mazrou’s geometric abstract sculptures and use of industrial materials have established her as a leading figure in the Emirati art landscape.

A Tribute to Innovation in Emirati Art

Shaikha Al Mazrou’s work will be central to Abu Dhabi Art’s visual campaign, reflecting the fair’s commitment to supporting contemporary artists. Her selected series, "Beyond All Scales" (2024), explores oxidation on copper as a metaphor for transformation, perception, and material instability.

Dyala Nusseibeh, Director of Abu Dhabi Art, remarked:

“Shaikha participated in our Horizons Emerging Artists program in 2017, and it’s inspiring to witness how her career has flourished. Her ability to transform industrial materials into thought-provoking artworks aligns perfectly with the evolving narrative of contemporary art in the UAE.”

Shaikha Al Mazrou draws inspiration from modernist and Bauhaus artists like Paul Klee, Carl Andre, and Wassily Kandinsky, blending minimalist abstraction with conceptual art. Her works are featured in prestigious international collections, including the RMZ Foundation, Jameel Arts Centre, and the Farjam Foundation. She also serves as an Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at NYU Abu Dhabi.

Call for Gallery Applications

Abu Dhabi Art has opened applications for galleries wishing to participate in its 17th edition, with submissions accepted until April 30, 2025. Galleries can apply under various sections, including:

With Abu Dhabi Art 2025 set to showcase a dynamic mix of global and regional talent, this edition reaffirms Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading cultural hub, fostering artistic dialogue and creativity.
