Image of Self

Total Arts at the Courtyard is pleased to present: Image of Self March 12th - April 9th, 2017 is the representation of artists, photographers, writers, curators, philosophers, musicians,. which is drawn, painted, photographed, videographed, sculpted, written or composed,... selected by Fereydoun Ave, as he says: With eyes open photographs merely render a two dimensional image of visage and self, while mirrors reflect the same dimensional flat image: yet with rolled up sealed eyes, creating a multi dimensional self, and an extra ordinary unconscious, self appears. Image of Self is the conception of oneself even if appears as a self-portraiture which may depicts not only details that are potentially available to objective investigation by others but also items that have been learned by that person about themselves. The exhibition was held first in Tehran in Nov 2016 and has customized for Dubai audience with the focus on audio, video and texts arts. Note to Editor: Established in 1992, Total Arts relocated to The Courtyard after the inauguration of the building in 1998. Total Arts is recognized as a pioneer on the Dubai arts scene, founded by Dariush Zandi to allow for a creative platform at a time when the Dubai arts scene was beginning to first grow. Since then, it has established itself as an educational platform, raising awareness of both local and international artistic talent. It continues to foster dialogue between established artists and collectors, as well as emerging artists and students from across the region, particularly Iran and the UAE. The gallerys current activities include a regular roster of lectures, workshops, film screenings, exhibitions and artists talks.
