Walk, earn, impact: Amazon and Dubai future foundation launch on ‘foot delivery’ pilot in Dubai
Dubai residents now have an innovative (and green) way to earn extra income. On August 27, 2025, Amazon UAE and the Dubai Future Foundation unveiled a pilot programme allowing individuals to deliver Amazon packages on foot in densely populated areas across the emirate.
This initiative, part of the Sandbox Dubai innovation platform under the emirate’s Economic Agenda (D33), offers a flexible gig opportunity to individuals and small business owners looking to monetize their idle working hours. Not only does this model open new income streams, it also helps businesses scale more efficiently while supporting urban sustainability goals.
By reducing reliance on delivery vehicles, the on foot model aims to ease traffic congestion and cut carbon emissions, offering faster, more efficient last mile delivery in crowded neighborhoods.
Why this matters:
Flexibility: Participants can use downtime or free hours to earn on their own terms.
Eco friendly: Fewer vehicles on the road mean lower emissions and lighter traffic.
Supportive framework: Sandbox Dubai encourages safe, regulated experimentation. It enables innovators and businesses to pilot new models under adaptable oversight.
According to Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, this collaboration leverages Amazon’s global expertise to boost the gig economy, entrepreneurship, and economic growth, anchored in flexibility and customer service. Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, emphasized that the initiative epitomizes public private cooperation, fostering innovation and strengthening Dubai’s competitive edge and readiness for the future.
As this pilot remains in its early stages, specific sign-up details are not yet released, but the prospect of walking your way to income offers a bold, green step forward for Dubai’s gig economy.
