UAE to Modernize Legislative Process with Artificial Intelligence: Sheikh Mohammed
The UAE Cabinet has approved the establishment of a Legislative Intelligence Office, marking a significant milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the country’s legal framework. The new office aims to modernize the legislative process by creating an integrated legislative map that incorporates federal and local laws, linking them with court rulings, executive procedures, and public services, all powered by AI.
This initiative was announced during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi. The AI-based system will leverage big data analytics to monitor the impact of legislation on society and the economy in real time, enabling the government to propose legal amendments in response to evolving needs and outcomes.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the significance of the new system, stating, “This AI-based legislative system will represent a paradigm shift in the legislative cycle. It ensures speed, precision, and alignment with our rapid national development while maintaining legislative excellence and global best practices.”
The Legislative Intelligence Office will also be connected to international research and policy centers, ensuring that the UAE stays aligned with the most innovative and effective legislative frameworks globally.
