And you too, Egg? Then fall breakfast!
When an egg created waves on Instagram, breaking the record of Kylie Jenners most liked photo, we all hailed and praised the tiny egg hero. But then came the shocking news that thrust hard in the hearts of those who could not do without eggs.
Egg for breakfast, egg for lunch, and egg for what not! Yes, the debate is over the egg- friend or foe? Unfortunately, dear egg lovers, studies show that the egg cannot be as good as you think it is, for your health. As per the latest US research on eggs (why would they target the egg though!), adults who ate about one and a half eggs daily had a slightly higher risk of heart disease than those who ate no eggs.
And that throws light to the horrifying fact that more eggs posed a greater risk. The bad news isnt over yet, it also showed a higher chance of dying early. However, the troublemaker is cholesterol, found in egg yolks and other foods, including shellfish, dairy products, and red meat. And if you are still blaming the scientists for choosing an egg from the whole lot, it is because the egg is the most commonly consumed cholesterol-rich food.
The new results were published online in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers at Northwestern Universitys Feinberg School of Medicine and elsewhere brought together results from six previous studies, analyzing data on almost 30,000 US adults who self-reported daily food intake. These participants were followed for roughly 17 years, on average.
Yet, do not lose hope, for eggs can still be a part of a healthy diet, but in smaller quantities, than we have gotten used to.
