WasteFuel Appoints David Trench as New CEO

WasteFuel, a US-based bioenergy company specializing in next-generation sustainable fuels, has announced the appointment of David Trench as its new Chief Executive Officer. Trench assumes the role after a global search, replacing co-founder Trevor Neilson, who will remain engaged with the company as an advisor and board member to ensure a smooth transition.

David Trench brings over 20 years of global leadership experience in energy and technology sectors. Prior to joining WasteFuel, Trench co-founded and served as CEO of Ocean Harvest, an agri-tech company focused on sustainable food production in the Middle East. He also held senior positions at Shell, noon, and Meraas, where he gained expertise in commercial development, project execution, and energy transition initiatives.

Trevor Neilson, WasteFuel’s co-founder and former CEO, stated, “David is the ideal leader to guide WasteFuel into its next phase of commercialization. I look forward to continuing my involvement with the team and supporting the company as it expands its role in decarbonizing global transportation.”

WasteFuel has made significant strides in the bioenergy sector, particularly in developing technologies that reduce waste and decarbonize industries like shipping. Trench highlighted the importance of WasteFuel’s mission, stating, “I am honored to lead this incredible team as we address two critical global issues: reducing waste and decarbonizing transportation at scale.”

WasteFuel has gained substantial backing, including an investment from bp Ventures in 2023 as part of its Series B funding round. Philipp Schoelzel, Vice President of Next Generation Biofuels at bp, welcomed Trench, expressing confidence in his leadership and the continued growth of WasteFuel.
