Temu Partners with International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition to Strengthen Intellectual Property Enforcement

Joins IACC Marketplace Advisory Council alongside global platforms and brands

Global e-commerce platform Temu has taken a significant step in the fight against counterfeit goods by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC). The agreement aims to reinforce collaboration on intellectual property (IP) protection and intensify efforts to combat online counterfeiting.

The MoU was formalized during the IACC’s 2025 Annual Conference in San Diego. Temu has joined the IACC’s newly established Marketplace Advisory Council (MAC) as an inaugural member through this partnership. The MAC is a cross-industry coalition designed to unite leading online marketplaces, payment providers, and global brands to advance best practices in IP enforcement and consumer protection.

“We’re pleased to welcome Temu as an inaugural member of the Marketplace Advisory Council and as a key partner in our shared fight against counterfeiting,” said Bob Barchiesi, President of the IACC. “This MoU reflects a meaningful step forward in our collaboration, grounded in transparency, accountability, and a joint commitment to consumer protection.”

Temu’s involvement in the MAC places it alongside major players such as Amazon, eBay, Mastercard, PayPal, Visa, and internationally recognized brands including Apple, Nike, Disney, Chanel, Colgate-Palmolive, Ford, and Johnson & Johnson.

A Temu spokesperson emphasized the company’s proactive role:

“Joining this coalition underscores Temu’s commitment to building a trustworthy online marketplace. We look forward to collaborating with other industry leaders to create a powerful, collective force against the sale of illegal goods online.”

Since its launch in 2022, Temu has significantly expanded its IP enforcement capabilities. These measures include:

  • Rigorous seller vetting and compliance training

  • 24/7 algorithmic monitoring complemented by manual reviews

  • A dedicated IP protection portal with brand registry for streamlined takedown requests

  • A specialized internal enforcement team for the rapid resolution of claims

The Marketplace Advisory Council serves as a unique platform for e-commerce companies, payment services, and brands to share insights, coordinate strategies, and create a sustainable, long-term impact in countering counterfeit sales across digital marketplaces.
