Commuters in Sharjah will now have access to real-time bus arrival information through a new digital display system launched by the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA).
The initiative is aimed at providing public transport users with accurate and up-to-date information about bus services, allowing passengers to better plan their journeys and reduce uncertainty around waiting times.
Solar-powered displays provide live bus information
The new displays are powered by solar energy and will show bus arrival times in minutes, along with service alerts and other important updates.
The machines will be installed at air-conditioned and upgraded bus stops, as well as bus stations across Sharjah. The system is designed to make transport information more accessible and convenient for daily commuters, residents and visitors.
The project is part of SRTA's wider efforts to accelerate digital transformation and improve the quality of public transport services in the emirate.
By combining real-time information with solar-powered technology, the authority aims to provide a more convenient, efficient and sustainable mobility experience for passengers.
Sharjah continues to expand bus connectivity
The latest initiative follows other measures introduced by SRTA to improve public transport connectivity and respond to growing passenger demand.
In June, the authority announced changes to its intercity bus service connecting Sharjah with Oman.
Route 203, which operates from Sharjah's Al Jubail Bus Station to Sohar and then Muscat, was increased to three daily trips to accommodate travellers and tourists.
The updated service includes two daily trips from Sohar to Sharjah and one daily service from Muscat to Sharjah.
The introduction of real-time arrival displays is expected to further enhance the passenger experience by giving commuters timely information while they wait for their buses.
